Camping out at airports, part deaux

So, after a 5.25 hour delay, my flight finally departed San Diego. Of course, my connecting flight left without me. I had planned for this, and already had my itinerary changed to reflect the next flight out at 7:30am. So, I'm here at O'Hare airport for the next 7 hours. I'm starving, but nothing is open. Chicago charges for their wireless access. BAD CHICAGO!! All the courtesy cots were already filled with sleeping people, so I'm waiting it out awake. After a short expedition, I managed to find an open power outlet for my laptop. My lap top's battery is shot, so power outlets are necessary. There is an ultra annoying theme song of some sort that keeps playing over the loudspeakers every few minutes, at a much higher volume than the normal music they are playing. It makes me want to kill. I wish one of these food places would open. I'm sitting in the food court. I'm chatting with Lindsay trying to pass the time. This airport is still pretty busy for almost 2am. One of these food places would make a killing if it were to open. Are you sensing a theme here? Well, now is as good of a time as any to see if I can download pictures from my camera to my laptop effectively. Hmm, downloads pretty fast to my laptop. There's that blasted theme song again. ACK!

This is my laptop LIVE! Well, not really, but it was for a sec.

'Tis the Season for camping out at The Airport

I'm coming to you live from SD international airport, where my flight has been delayed for more than 4 hours. The weather here is fine, but unfortunately my connection is in Chicago where heavy fog and snow has clogged air traffic to a standstill. I'm writing to you now out of sheer boredom. I still have more than 3 hours to wait for my flight, then I'll have to wait overnight at Chicago airport to get myself to Raleigh tomorrow morning, approximately 12 hours later than originally planned. Then I'll have an hour car ride to my mom's house where I'll get to rest for a few hours before attending the first of my holiday family gatherings. Thanks for the ride to the airport, Robert, but I should've waited another couple of hours and put in some OT at work! Oh, and big props to SD airport for free wireless internet access. That shocked me!

Christmas Came Early for Good 'ol Self. And Attn: Carolinians!

That's a catalog photo of my new Olympus SP-560UZ digital camera. It's hard to use a camera to take a picture of itself, you know. Oh, it can be done, but I don't feel like messing with mirrors right now.
Stats: 8.0 MP, 18x Optical zoom, with a 5.6x digital zoom that I'll probably never use. So far, I'm liking it quite a bit. I had a bit of a learning curve, but I'm already getting better results than I did from my Konica/Minolta. Why yes, I will provide some examples. I went out photo-finding just on foot today to a park near my house. and took some shots.
One thing you will notice is the aspect ratio. This camera can adjust to shoot in 16:9 wide-screen format. Which I greatly prefer, because I use wide-screen monitors, and it's better when a photo fills the whole view, without little empty areas on each side.

The color on this new camera just blows my old one out of the water. Color was one thing that I was disappointed with in my old camera, so I'm happy about that. It's also really sharp.

See the wee little ant inside the flower? I didn't when I took the photo.
I saw this guy, though.

I think I'm going to like this camera.

I will be in the great state of North Carolina for a week and a half coming up this holiday season. I will arrive Friday evening (21st) and leave in the wee hours of the new year. I hope to see all of you Carolinians while I'm there. I will definitely be getting up to Boone for at least a day trip. Gotta visit the “new” beansTalk and experience a time-warp. I will also be forcing Chris and Kelley to have our traditional new year's gathering on the eve of new year's eve, since I will have to head plane-ward so early on the first. It's going to be early days at work for me all week, followed by a stupid early work day from which I will go directly to the airport.

If I don't post before then, Merry Christmas!
